Association Executive Director Discusses Future for Moscow’s Exporters
On April 16, Moscow’s Digital Business Space hosted a conference of beginning and seasoned exporters, Moscow government officials, and members of business associations and financial institutions, who convened under the motto “Moscow as Territory of Export” to discuss support measures for the city’s exporting producers.
Alexei Fursov, head of the Moscow City Department for Science, Industrial Policies and Enterprise, told the conference of the functions of the Moscow Export Center and existing measures and tools of support for exporting producers. Fursov’s report was followed by an online poll of the participants (more than 200) for opinions on the prospects for further development of exports, and a Q&A session. The businessmen were particularly keen to know prospects for streamlining customs clearance procedures for temporary import of exhibits and samples and export of trial consignments, a better compliance system for background checks and verification of customers abroad, problems of product localization, and certification of imported goods.
The subsequent industry-specific sessions, moderated by relevant experts, permitted the participants to discuss and compare methods and tools to promote their products on international markets, share their experience building sales channels, effectiveness of exhibiting abroad, and minding local cultural expectations in trade with Middle Eastern and Asian countries, supplemented by practical advice given by the experts.
Export must be a business function within a company — a dedicated employee or a team responsible for export only and nothing else, said Yuri Shurygin.
In our view, regional centers are the most effective of all existing tools of support, Shurygin said.
Vladimir and Rostov regions sent a joint business mission to Uzbekistan on March 28-30, organized and facilitated by the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Exporters (ASMEX) at the request of the regional Export Support Centers in Vladimir and Rostov.
